Led by the Cyprus Research and Innovation Center, this project wants to transform existing fiber optic networks into real-time environmental monitoring systems. GASPOF's applications range widely, from measuring greenhouse gases to keeping an eye on volcanic activity. Huawei's Sensing OptiX Solution uses Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) technology, deploying communication optical cables alongside oil and gas pipelines as sensors. These cables collect and analyze vibration signals to accurately paint a picture of any construction events threatening pipeline. With Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS), the temperature information is analyzed in real time with just a single passive fiber optic cable. This enables eficient leakage detection while lowering cost of ownership and providing gapless temperature monitoring of the critical assets of an entire.
